Crafty Creatives - Box 9

SPOILER ALERT!

(if you're a bit slow like me!)

 

I have to say, this isn't my favourite. I'm not a massive fan of Steampunk and some of the things in this months box are not to my taste. BUT, saying that, the last few boxes have been amazing so I'm not jaded in anyway and from the tweets I've seen there are many many people for whom this is their favourite so far, just goes to show you can't please everyone!

I am in love with the tweed and leather, and will definitely be decoupaging my box with some bits I've already got. It still amazes me how they fit this much in each box, I can never re-pack it!

Crafty Creatives Box 8

I'm a day later than promised, I'm sorry!

So Crafty Creatives Box 8 has arrived. Damn my job for making me miss the delivery every month.

I don't think I really need to rave about these guys any more than I alredy have, if you haven't signed up, frankly I think you're a bit of an idiot. For the price of two starbucks a month you get a wonderful suprise box of crafty goodness, items of supreme quality and a whole network of like minded wonderful people. Who wouldn't pay a tenner for that!?

Here's my look through Box 8..

 

 

 

Spots and Stripes is the theme this month.

 

 

 

 

The Kit is fimo jewellery. I'm not entirely sure I will actually make the kit this month which is the first time ever, the items are great (bonus points for the excellent pliers!) but I'm just not generally a fan of home made jewellery, and I'm certain I haven't got the skills to make anything I would wear. So I will be looking for inspiration on what else I can do - perhaps a Glue Gun Girl esque Macaroon keyring?

 

 

 

 

I also got, red stripey cotton, navy tissue paper and green spotty oil cloth. I already know I'm going to make an oil cloth mat with this for my bedside table, so I can wipe away the drinks I always spill in the night!

 

 

 

Washi tape and foam sticker pads will always come in handy, and I've already covered a little wooden box in the Washi Tape.

 

 

Bakers Twine, Beads and GORGEOUS paper straws really put the smile on my face. The straws are amazing and I've alredy got them displayed proudly in a litle milk bottle on my dressing table!

 

 

Cupcake cases were swiftly donated to my pastry chef brother in law, but I've since seen a tutorial for making flowers out of them on the crafty creatives blog and I could kick myself!

 

 

Fab art card - I have a sneaky suspicion I will be be cutting this up shortly to use on a card!

 

So thank you ladies for another brilliant box, and I can't wait to see what Box 9 will bring.

Crafty Creatives Box 7 - SPOILER ALERT!

First up - SPOILER ALERT!

 

Now that's out of the way, it's that time again, Crafty Creatives box number 7 arrived with most of us this week. Here's my little look through this months box.

 

 

After the first glimpse you know immediately it's going to be a good one! This month's is a Nature/Woodland theme and boy is that a good choice! This may well be my favourite box, the quality and quantity of the items gets better every month, this one is so packed!

 

The art card this month is so pretty, it's definitely going on my wall!

 

The first thing I pulled out was these three birch hearts. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them but I LOVE them, we had a huge silver birch tree in my garden when I was growing up and I always got told off for peeling the flaky silver paper-like bark off. These are so tactile and they look lovely, great start!

 

 

Next up, two lovely porcelain fox beads. I think these would make great earrings!

 

 

5 metal leaf charms - I'm thinking a tiered droplet necklace for these babies...

 

 

Loads! of wooden leaf buttons - I'm already planning a tree on canvas, with embroided trunk and background.

 

 

Owly fabric - this is so cute! This would make gorgeous childrens clothes, maybe bunting!

 

 

Large metal owl pendant - This would obviously make a lovely necklace, but has anyone done anything else more original?

 

Pinecone - This is definitely being spray painted!

 

Skeleton leaves - These would lovely on a notebook or against some dark fabric

 

I love these! Glass toadstool beads, so sweet, these are definitely going on a bracelet!

 

Flower soft - I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it looks fun! Time for some research....

 

 

And this month's kit is...

 

 

Needle felting! This is fab and right up my street, I can't wait to get felting, but I am a little scared about the barbed nedle!

 

 

I officially now have two favourite days - Pay day, and Crafty Creatives day!

 

Roll on the next one, maybe a valentines theme..?

Recent Craftyness

Just thought I would share some makes I've finished recently..

 

The first is using one of the items from December's Crafty Creatives box, the Ice white fluffy wool.

I took a wooden letter J that I already had and covered it in double sided tape (that I nabbed from work..Sssh!)

 

 

Once this was done I unpeeled the white covering on the tape and wrapped the wool round and round until the whole letter was completely covered and voila!

 

 

 

I have to say it looks better in person than it does in the photo, it's so fluffy I have to stroke it everytime I walk past! It's nice and christmassy but I will keep it out all year round to add to my J collection!

 

The second make is an idea I got from Pinterest. The item I saw was a white painted pumpkin with crayons melted down the sides which looked amazing (and I'm still planning on doing this one day) but I thought the same idea would look great on a plain canvas. I started with a pack of Crayola crayons (cheaper ones don't have such nice colours and don't melt as easily) and a blank canvas.

 

 

I glued them on using fabric glue - this was all I had lying around but it worked perfectly!

 

 

Once they were all on I left it to dry for an hour then propped it up on top of a scrappy towel and using a standard hairdryer heated the crayons. Beware - it took about 2 minutes before anything happened and then they suddenly hit melting point and went crazy!

 

 

I think the end result looks quite good but I will be doing another one using mainly bright colours because the greens and browns tend to smudge together and make a horrible muddy colour!

Crafty Creatives Box 6 Review - Spoiler Alert

Sorry for being a little late on this, but here's my look through box number 6 from Crafty Creatives.

The theme, as it is December, is Icy!
Slightly unusual but nice to have something a bit different from the traditional twee Christmas theme, so this is what's included in this month's box;

A nice litle extra - 3 Crafty Creatives pin badges.

 

Choker wire - what a fab idea! I would never have thought of making a choker necklace, but I can't wait to find a suitable pendant to go on this!

 

 

Paillettes - I have an idea in mind for these so watch this space..!

 

 

Glass drop pendants - I feel a keyring comng on!

 

 

Shirring Elastic - I've already used this to secure a bundle of fimo canes for my blog giveaway, I'm sure they'll be a lot more uses to come for this.

 

 

Icy glass beads - two lovely snowflakes and a handful of beads

 

 

Two glass hearts in a lovely little organza bag

 

 

Ice furry white wool - I'm so chuffed with this and I know exactly what I'm doing with it!

 

 

String of fluorite gemstones - apparently this is known as the genius stone which very much appeals to my ego! I like it as it is but I'm going to divide it up and make lots of goodies out of this!

 

 

 

 

 

And finally the kit this month is....

 

A bath bomb kit!

This isn't what I was expecting at all.. although when ever is it!

The kit contains all the ingredients you need to make them - I have so far made two using the moulds provided and have at least half of the mixture left so it's really great economy. They're so simple to make I can't believe I've never made them before, you just mix the ingredients together, add an essential oil (the kit contains a gorgeous orange one) mould, and leave to dry.

 

 

I used my first one in the bath last night and it was great, the scent was amazing! I have very sensitive skin so I was a little worried about making/using these but no issues whatsoever.

 

 

So top marks once again Crafty Creatives, having this little treat through my door every month (usually towards the end of the month when funds are running a little low!) is a brilliant pick-me up and always inspires me. Thank you!
